No, it is likely that not all of those that are eligible will apply for the finding therefore there is likely to be a waiting list. Register the flood now and keep your fingers crossed.
We understand that you will want to get back to normal as soon as possible and that where possible you will also want to protect your property with flood resilient measure quickly. The Property Flood Resilience grant scheme is open for application until the end of April 2025
The scheme is not run by us so we are unable to give ideas of timescales once you have made your application.
Depending on the size of the property and also the extent of information gathered at the site for your accounts the survey can take between 40-60 mins to complete, sometimes we will also need to take a look at the surrounding areas to establish waterways, topography and other physical limitations.
We will need to view the perimeter of your house so it would help if any items are cleared from the external walls before we arrive.
Our experienced surveyors are busy but they normally have availability within the next 2 weeks, additionally we do get cancellations so it is always worth checking if an earlier appointment is available. We have a team of 4 fully qualified surveyors and they can carry out up to 4 inspections a day each depending on location. There are some days we try to keep clear for report writing but we have plenty of capacity and will do our best to visit at a time convenient to you.
Our reports follow the code of practise and include ownership details, history of flooding, a study of flood risk, topography and geology of the area and then a table of recommendations. This table is split into measures to prevent or substantially reduce flood water entering your property and a list of resilience measures which will help you recover from the flood faster with less damage.
We are happy to advise on measures you have already researched and are considering as well as confirming the quotes you have are suitable for the purpose. We want to make sure your are spending your money on the measures that will give you the best protection.
